Supply Chain Strategy has a critical impact on the competitive advantage of organisations because of its vital role in delivering corporate / marketing strategy. However, there is a problem: in many organisations, supply chain strategy is either absent altogether or, still worse, is inappropriate.
Excellence in supply chain strategy requires the following areas to be addressed: supply chain process design infrastructure design information systems design and organisation design.
Potential research topics include:
- The development of methodologies to design and implement supply chain strategy within different sectors.
- The alignment of competitive strategy and supply chain strategy ? enabling operations and marketing to work in harmony!
- The evolution of supply chain strategy over time within an organisation.
- The impact of supply chain strategy on process design or infrastructure design or information systems design or organisational design.
